The institution was established in the year 1991 as part of World Bank assisted Technician Education Project with Diploma programmes in Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Avionics, Electronics and Instrumentation and Computer Engineering. Since its inception Govt. Polytechnic College, Neyyattinkara has established itself as a premier polytechnic college in the capital city of Kerala.
